Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss various historical perspectives on the socialization of LGBTQ persons
  2. Identify various terminologies associated with LGBTQ
  3. Discuss the taxonomy of behavior
  4. Describe multiple social constructs related to LGBTQ lifestyle and culture
  5. List the seven different forms of homoeroticism
  6. Describe African, Asiatic and Native American peoples’ common and/or opposing philosophical views on LGBTQ lifestyle
  7. Discuss demography and health disparities in LGBT(Q) populations
  8. Discuss ethical and legal considerations for LGBT(Q) healthcare
  9. Discuss current policies and trends in LGBT(Q) affirmative care within mainstream health and academic medical centers
  10. Identify and utilize community-based resources for support and referral for LGBT(Q) patients
  11. Employ methods and approaches for insuring a welcoming environment in inpatient, ambulatory and specialty healthcare settings for transgender patients
  12. Describe various transgender specific health needs and concerns
  13. Discuss transgender specific primary medical care and ancillary health and wellness support services
