Subject Description

This program reviews the impact of the influenza virus and vaccines, including: data on vaccine effectiveness; evidence on strategies optimizing vaccination rates; factors in product selection of vaccines; and vaccine and antiviral therapies in clinical scenarios.

All speaker conflicts (listed on the handout) were resolved through peer review. Any planning committee conflicts were noted and resolved as well. To receive credit, participants must complete the pre-test, post-test and a program evaluation. This activity is supported by an educational grant from Sanofi Pasteur U.S.

Learning Objectives

  1. Review data about the impact of influenza illness and vaccine effectiveness
  2. Explain evidence regarding strategies to optimize vaccination rates for patients and health care workers
  3. Describe factors to consider in product selection of influenza vaccines
  4. Outline influenza vaccine and antiviral therapies to clinical scenarios
